A FAB Research Live Webinar and Q&A session

ADHD & Dyslexia: What Can Diet Do?

Part of FAB's 'ADHD & What Else?' webinar series

Thursday 27th February 2025

6.00 - 7.30 pm (GMT)

This event will be recorded - so whether or not you can attend live, your booking will allow you to access the full video and handouts afterwards.

Living with ADHD and/or Dyslexia can be challenging and confusing - and these conditions often overlap. There is a huge amount of information online on the relevance of food & diet to these conditions. But much of it is contradictory or misleading, making it hard to know what to believe – or what might help.

Join FAB experts Dr Emma Derbyshire, Dr Alex Richardson and Hazel De Maeijer for our next FAB Webinar - exploring the relevance of diet for ADHD and Dyslexia.

Following the success of our introductory ‘overview’ event with these FAB experts - on ‘Nutrition for ADHD & related conditions’, we’re now taking a deeper look into the relevance of nutrition and diet to dyslexia and ADHD, and their overlaps and differences

  • expanding more on what’s ‘evidence-based’ and what isn’t...
  • sharing more expert insights into the practical, real-world implications
  • and answering as many of YOUR questions as we can

Dr Emma Derbyshire & Dr Alex Richardson – both highly acclaimed respected academics, researchers & writers with a longstanding interest in this area, will each give short presentations

  • explaining the scientific evidence that some aspects of our diets can – and do - have a meaningful impact on our brains and behaviour
  • providing valuable practical insights, tips and guidance - both for those living with these conditions, and for professionals and policymakers

By joining us, you'll receive evidence-based insights into:

  • What impact nutrition can have on ‘sensory processing’ – which is often overlooked in standard management of these conditions (particularly vision & visual attention, but other senses too)

  • How food choices and habits can affect mental processing - such as memory, or how quickly the brain takes in, interprets and responds to information

  • Which aspects of nutrition & diet might be worth prioritising to support attention and concentration - from amongst the many that may be advertised to 'help'

WHO IS THIS EVENT FOR?

This webinar is for you - whether your interest is personal, professional, academic, or any combination – i.e. if you are

  • ‘living with’ Dyslexia or ADHD (formally diagnosed, or not) – in yourself, your child, another family member, partner or close friend
  • working with anyone with these conditions– as a teacher or education professional, healthcare or support provider, colleague, or any other role
  • studying, or researching these or related developmental conditions – from biological, nutritional, psychological and/or socio-economic perspectives
  • in a position to influence ‘policy and practice’ when it comes to food and nutrition (at home, or in schools, workplaces, public services or anywhere else...)
  • or simply curious to learn more about the links between food, brains and behaviour

This event will give you additional knowledge and perspectives on both the latest research evidence, and its practical implications for helping to support - and unlock the often untapped strengths and potential of - children or adults with ADHD and/or Dyslexia.
