A daily iron supplement may decrease fatigue in woment with 'unexplained fatique' and borderline blood levels of ferritin (the iron storing protein) says a new study.

The women in the new study, published in the CMAJ, did not have anemia, but were considered to have borderline levels of ferritin.

A daily dose of 80mg of elemential iron in the form of ferrous sulfate was associated with a decrease in fatigue stores of 48%, compared to a decrease of 29% in the placebo group, according to researchers from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and the French National College of General Practitioners.
